About

In 2014, my husband and I decided to move from Chicago to Minneapolis to bring our one-year-old daughter closer to her grandparents. Before officially settling back in our home state, we decided to spend three months living in Florence, Italy. I used the opportunity to take a variety of cooking classes and absorb as much of the food culture as I could.

Italian Midwestern first captures our experience living in Italy, including details of my cooking classes, every meal that we ate at an Italian restaurant as well as food cooked at home and other miscellaneous food experiences. Now that we have returned from Italy, my goal is to recreate many of the Italian food we experienced with my personal touches and any adjustments needed to make them midwestern-accessible. I also continue to search for unique food experiences here and am always happy to let my Italian and Midwestern backgrounds influence each other.
